This Has Got to Be a First-Whoa!

Well, we had originally planned to go visit some gardens today since Matt is still on vacation, but the rain just kept coming(which I am very thankful that my gardens are getting watered on God's bill and not mine!) But we really needed to get out of the house today and thought maybe Matt could take the older kids to see a matinee. But I was a bit antsy to get out as well, so we decided to attempt taking Noah with us. Noah is one very busy little 2 year old! The idea of keeping him still and quiet is a bit looney . But we were up for a challenge! Passing on the good parent role for just a bit, we thought plenty of popcorn, sweets and maybe even a sip of pop would keep him captivated:) just long enough to all watch the movie!

So we arrived early to the theater which is actually not the brightest idea, but Cole managed to deter the little wild man with piggy back rides up and down the deserted hallways until the movie was about to begin. We have started a new tradition in seating as well at the theater when all of us go together. Instead of sitting in one long line where you end up playing the telephone game or end up spilling all the food and drinks you are sharing back and forth, we now sit in the two- seater rows, with Matt and I in the center of all the kids. It is much easier to keep the peace, divide up the loot(candy, popcorn and drinks), as well as exit easily for the 5 trips to the bathroom! And this trip, was actually a success! With only one bathroom trip, two pass offs of Noah from Matt to I and back again, and a five minute hallway break at the very end of the movie with Noah who was sugared up beyond belief, we all saw the movie from start to finish! I am pretty pleased! Noah danced his way out of the theater and will crash from the sugar rush sometime soon! We are now going to play a little of 20 questions so we can laugh ALOT!

Oh, and it was Aliens in the Attic that we saw. Pretty fun and entertaining.

The New Doo!!

HERE IS THE BEFORE PICTURE
SHOWERED AND READY TO GO!!!

Cole has been loving his long hair for as long as I can remember. It has been a part of him developing his own identity and style. He knew from the get go that we were fine with it as long as it was not something that was a symptom of rebellion or attitude. We were much more concerned with the condition of his soul. So, instead of holding him down and chopping off his long locks because I missed seeing his face, I waited...patiently....and guess what, he decided he wanted to see us. So now he has waited patiently for us to budget in a new doo for him. Finally tonight after dinner, he and Matt headed out with a picture of how his new style had to look. What fun to see him come home!!

A Fun Day of Hiking

We finally made it out the door at lunch time! After almost two weeks of dad being away, all of us were more than ready to get out of the house to have some fun together! And, I forgot just how dirty kids can get!!! We should have covered the van in plastic for the ride home! We sure did laugh a lot though! Why did we all take showers before we left to go hiking!

My Love Is Home!!!!!

My sweet boy is finally home safe from Ecuador!!! Thank you so much for praying for the trip all my sweet friends!

ECUADOR UPDATE

The team has made it safely into the states! They are in Miami and waiting at their gate for their return flight home. Customs was a breeze! When I spoke with Matt this morning before they left Ecuador, he was concerned especially for Brynna who was running a temp. When they arrived in Ecuador they had to go through a thermal body scan in customs. We have been praying this morning that this would not be a hold up for any of them and that Brynna"s fever would come down in time to go through customs. Praise the Lord , they all made it through customs without any problems! Please continue to pray for the team in the last leg of their journey. Pray for strength and rest as they return home. Please especially be praying for those who are run down and not feeling so well. Thank you for following the team and keeping them in your prayers! The Lord has been ever faithful. As of right now, they will be boarding their return flight at 5:40 and taking off at 6:10.

Oh Happy Find...Come and Snuggle With Me

This is my happy find of the month! Our basement is a typical semi finished mish mash of activity. The overflow from our living space, but in turn making it where we live a good portion of the time. With five kiddos, investing in NICE new furniture for the basement would be quite the silly mistake on my part! I Mean, come on, I found many shades of beautiful mold growing on the carpet after my sons first sleep over-WHAT IS THAT! So, with that in mind, we naturally went with the very retro and groovy mustard coorduroy sofa that was in mint condition until it was in my house for one week! But that is besides the point....it is late and I am rambling. While i am a vintage geek, the lovely funk was not my first choice in color or decorating styles, but I decided since I couldn't beat, I would join it! In otherwards I was going to enjoy the challenge of making our hang space in the basement fun! I bet those of you who know me, could never guess what i used in this project! Why vintage linens of course! "I am not just the owner I am a client as well"-haha-to many late night infomercials I think! Anyways, my find was not the couch, it is actually this chair! I found this overstuffed chair for 7.00! After looking it over thouroghly, thinking there has to be some kind of mistake, we decided to snatch it up to sit beside our lovely couch! The only thing missing on the chair was the back pillow. No problem, I think I have about 20 at home that may do the trick! I am a bit of a pillow hog as well! I think Matt thought I was a bit like the Princess and the Pea when he met me in college, although it was not matresses in my case but oodles of pillows, and of course I needed them all!

So, I gathered up all the lovely retro prints and colors on my shelves and began with a pillow party in my basement! That was my late night Friday and Saturday project keeping me busy so i would forget how very much i was missing my husband who is in Ecuador right now. Here are the additions to the chair and couch.
I used a combination of an old bedspread and coordinating sheet for the seat cushion. Talk about flower power-whoa

I made new slip covers for all the pillows in our TV room. Awesome, wash and go.
I think it is a hit!I love it, this is the perfect cuddle up with a book chair, I can fit all my kiddos on it with me. I love these kind of finds!
