Coming Soon...

After a long week of Drs appointments, it felt good to have them behind me and to be able to sit outside while the kiddos swam this afternoon and fold fat quarters for the shop. I have been sluggishly cutting the sheets this week when I was feeling up to it. My husband helped me do some of my supply run Monday night, sweet man. He is no stranger to the thrift stores. Actually, when he was driving me to one of my appointments this week, he went the wrong direction and guess where he was heading? He went on my thrifting run. He said, when we get in the car alone together, that is what naturally happens-poor thing-I think we need to change it up a bit, and not with Drs appointments:) Anyways, here is a quick peek at some of the prints that will be in the shop soon.

I am anxious to share a bit about our youth group kick off "fight night" too! It was a night full of energy and excitement, mess and laughter and of course Jesus! Also, Matt and I were able to take our littlest man Noah on a fun date last weekend to "A day out with Thomas" He is a huge fan, so Matt and I were extremely excited about this day-ok, I was a bit giddy even. Being a mom makes you goofy for sure!
Is that not the craziest face-oh my does it make me giggle. Just a quick peek from that day.

What to do with Vintage Bed Linens...

It has probably been years since I did an official "what to do with vintage bed linens" so here is a new little project for those of you who love to sew with reclaimed linens and have wee little girlie girls in your life! A few weeks ago when Matt and Cole were away for a youth trip, I set a few days aside to get some serious sewing done for my own kiddos. It had been quite awhile since I had made new sleeping pants and loungy summer shorts for them, so I set aside a huge stack of linens for this project. But somewhere in the middle of cutting out shorts, I went even more simple and decided to do sew simple elastic skirts for the girls. I have since then, spent a few hours on 3 different days whipping these little cuties out and have even done a few for the store that I will be listing later today.

I will do my best to add a few pictures later today showing the simple sewing process for these skirts, but I know there are plenty of tutorials out in the blog world for skirts such as this.

Bell had fun this morning helping me get some pictures for the shop. I appreciate any excuse to just get outdoors! And Noah is enjoying our new clothesline just about as much as I am!

A Week of Quilting....

With Matt Gone this week...the evening hours give me a chance to do a good amount of quilting. The girls are back in school, so running my machine during the day is a bit distracting. I am learning to get up early enough to get some sewing done before breakfast. I quilted these last night and got up early to bind them this morning. After a bit of gardening this morning before the sun was too mean to be in, I got them photographed and listed. Both of them are made from recycled clothing and linens. The autumn walk quilt does have one print that is from a modern quilting line, but the new and the old worked so well together.

I also worked on a runner for one of the pieces of furniture in our living room. I used scraps with alot of color!! Over the past couple years I have found that the cheerful colors do well for my joy-funny I know! It also makes it easy to mix mis-matched items collected over time.

And here is a little sneak peak of the quilt I am working on currently. I have not decided on the backing for it as of yet. I am thinking I will use multiple prints on the back to add interest to both sides.
A quick note for the shop....All quilts are 10% off today.

Fun with Scraps...

Every so often I enjoy going through all the favorite little scraps that have collected from previous projects. I put them together for a quilt this time. They end up being eye candy when mushed together. I used a sweet vintage yellow and white stripe bed linen rescue to compliment the scraps. Last night when all the kiddos were fast asleep, I was able to finally finish binding this quilt. And then I snuck out into the backyard around 6am this morning to photograph it.

I did a free motion wandering stitch on the color patches and a simple straight line stitch on the yellow and white stripes. Reminds me of a bubble gum machine.
