WE ARE WARM AND READY TO PLAY....

LAST NIGHT PROVED TO BE INTERESTING BUT ENDED WITH A GOOD ENDING! ALL OF THE FUN WAS SUCKED OUT OF OUR SNOW-POCALYPSE PLANS WHEN THE POWER WENT OUT! BUT-AT 1 AM THE HUM OF ELECTRICITY CAME BACK. MATT WENT TO BED AND COLE STAYED UP WITH ME FOR A FEW HOURS TO HELP AND KEEP ME COMPANY WHILE I TENDED TO SOME THINGS IN CASE WE LOST OUR POWER AGAIN. IT WAS PRETTY FUN GOING OUT AT 2 AM TO SHOVEL AT LEAST A LITTLE SECTION BY THE DOOR SO WE COULD ACTUALLY GET THE DOOR OPEN IN THE MORNING! HERE ARE SOME FUN PICTURES FROM THE WEE MORNING HOURS.

SURVIVED OUR FIRST BLACKOUT OF THIS BLIZZARD...

Well, at around 8pm this evening our power went out, just hours after this 2 day long blizzard had begun. Now I have experienced our power being out for 3 days in the summer, and it was just inconveinant and uncomfortable in the heat, but this actually scared me as I looked at my 5 kiddos. With the snow and wind making it impossible to leave our home, and no heat, I honestly was fearful. I honestly did not expect our power being restored right in the middle of this blizzard, but it was! PRAISE THE LORD!!! Matt just awoke me to take a shift of keeping an eye on the candles we had going for heat, and to watch for flooding in our basement. But about 10 minutes after we traded spaces, the hum of electricity came on-what a beautiful sound! I am so glad Matt can sleep soundly now!!! We are by no means out of the woods, but the Lord is giving us a chance to warm up the house and get a few tasks done with the aid of our power!

Here are a few pictures of this storms progress....

These are a few hours into the storm this past afternoon.

Here is approx 10 hours into the blizzard and still going strong!! t is only 1 am in these, I cannot imagine what it will be like when we awake in the morning!

We moved the girls mattresses to the kitchen for the younger kids to sleep on to keep warm near the oven that we would briefly open every so often to let a little warmth out. We figured huddling them all together in a little space would help keep them warm. And yes, Ellie too:) There are four of them in there somewhere:)-AND THE DOG. Should i wake them and tell them we have power again-Naaa.....

IT HAS HIT.....

THE BLIZZARD HAS HIT AND WE ARE ALL SAFE AT HOME FOR A FEW DAYS NOW! SO FAR IT HAS BEEN A COZY NIGHT AND WIL CONTINUE TO BE JUST FINE AS LONG AS WE DO NOT LOOSE POWER. OUR WINDOWS ARE ALREADY COVERED WITH SNOW FROM THE CRAZY WIND.

MATT AND I WERE ABLE TO FINALLY GET ALMOST ALL OF THE CHRISTMAS STORED UP IN THE ATTIC, BUT I HAD ONE OF OUR SMALLER TREES THAT HAS NOT MADE IT INTO IT'S BOX YET, SO I SNUCK IT BACK INTO THE HOUSE TONIGHT;) IT IS JUST A SWEET LITTLE TREAT IN THE MIDDLE OF A STORM!

MATT AND I TRADED PLACES TONIGHT IN THE KITCHEN. I MADE DINNER AND HE DID THE BAKING. NORMALLY MATT IS OUR CHEF AND I AM THE BAKER-BUT IT WAS FUN TO WORK IN THERE TOGETHER TONIGHT. HUM? WHICH DO YOU THINK WE ATE FIRST? DID YOU GUESS THE COOKIES? YEP, WE HAD DESERT FIRST:)

I THINK THERE ARE A LOT OF CREATIVES SHUT IN FOR THIS STORM BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN A HOPPIN DAY IN THE SHOP TODAY:) NOAH DECIDED TO CUDDLE UP ON THE STUDIO FLOOR WHILE I WORKED, LOVE IT!!! THIS IS WHY I LOVE WORKING FROM HOME-IT IS THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS!

LATER TONIGHT, MATT AND I ARE GOING TO TURN OUR OLD TV WARDROBE INTO A DRESS UP WARDROBE FOR THE GIRLS-I AM SOOOO EXCITED!!! AND MY SWEET FRIEND BETH! IF YOU ARE READING THIS, THANK YOU FOR THE IDEA-IT DAWNED ON ME THAT WE COULD USE IT WHEN YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT THE ONE YOU ATTEMPTED TO GET INTO YOUR VAN AWHILE BACK!!

What Will this Storm Be Like....

Many of you may be aware or even in the path of this crazy snow storm heading our way-well actually, it has already begun. My husband is on his way home and will be grabbing some last minute needs from the store. Our church office and all activities have been cancelled until Thursday morning. I can already see that the wind is going to be crazy from the looks of our massive trees swaying violently as I peer out our window. It has a lonely lifeless grey look outside. Not much snow yet, but it is suppose to begin in about an hour. A snow day sounds fun and so cozy, especially since my love has already taken Thursday off as a vacation day for my birthday which means we all have 2 whole days together! I am very much looking forward to it! But I must say, either the media just has a hayday with making everyone crazy and panicked or this tiny little spark of worry growing in me, has some kind of place to help prepare. I am a bit concerned about the ice and wind wreaking havoc on the power and phone lines. I do hope this will just turn out to be a comfy and cozy time of rest and play as a family, and that it does not find us secluded without heat or water! So-especially for my lovely customers! If you are not hearing from me in the next few days with questions you are waiting to have answered, please just keep in mind-internet could be on the list of casualities with this impending storm:) For those of you in the middle of this as well-keep warm, stay safe, rest, and enjoy the beautiful mess:)
