My Walk With the Kids....

Matt had to run out to a meeting tonight after dinner, so I took the kids on our evening walk and took along my camera this time. There is always so much going on with the five kids on a walk so I thought I would share some pictures from tonight.
Bell started out keeping me company while the others ran ahead to play on the trail...
Joslyn found this nasty spider and we just had to get his picture...
I asked the kids to stop for at least a minute so i could capture all of them together-they attempted to cooperate:)
Joslyn spent the time picking wild flowers...
Madison was walking Ellie but stopped to add a few to the bouquet...
Sun just about to set behind the trees...
Joslyn and Noah kept a steady pace a bit in front of me.
Cole was wild man running across the field in order to beat all of us...
The girls had these flowers already in jars upon my arrival at the front door. It was another good evening walk...

A LITTLE SURPRISE FOR THE GIRLS...

The girls and I spent some time cleaning the playroom today. Their needs in there are ever-changing and Noah always needs a little fine tuning on his train tracks. But after they went to bed this evening, I worked out a special little surprise for them(Bell will especially appreciate this) I dug out our oversized coffee table from the garage and cleaned it up for a craft table just their height! They are always sewing with my old machine, but it is a bit difficult for Bell especially. I always need to put the peddle on a stack of books for her to reach, but this table will be just the right height for all of them. Cannot wait to hear the squeals in the morning! So, wether it is sewing... or painting.... or coloring... or beads....this is their own table to create on.

IF ONLY THEY HAD WINGS....

A FEW DAYS AGO, I WAS TEACHING BELL HOW TO CUT OUT A HEART. WHEN SHE WAS DISAPPOINTED THAT THE ONES SHE HAD CUT WERE SMALLER THAN SHE HAD INTENDED, I SHOWED HER HOW TURNING THEM A CERTAIN WAY WOULD MAKE A BUTTERFLY. THIS WAS THE OUTCOME....

A BEAUTIFUL FLUTTERING BUNCH OF BUTTERFLIES DANCING IN MY BASEMENT-BELL DREW HER SISTERS INTO THE MAGIC AND THIER EYES LIT UP WITH EACH NEW BUTTERFLY THEY STRUNG....WISHING THEY HAD WINGS.

The Best Use of Toilet Paper Ever....

I was getting ready for bed, and this is what I found. Madison had tucked it in my make up bag, knowing I would find it right before I went to bed. Thank you my precious Madi, I needed that! May I just say, I think this has got to be the best use of toilet paper ever;)

Little Blooms-Upcycled Wool Mittens

Well, I did end up skipping a day in my "pair of mittens a day" goal. But I do have a few new pairs that I was able to finish this morning. I took a break from making the adult and teen sizes and focused a bit on the wee ones instead.

This pair was made for a younger child, best for 5-8 year olds approx. They are lined in a warm red fleece.

And then I worked on a pair of infant mitts. These do not have the thumb, making them easy to slip on and off of your wee one. They are best for 3-12 months. They are lined in a soft jersey knit.
